Placing an Online Order is as Easy as 1.. 2.. 3 1. Gather info about your window 2. Determine the type of shutter needed 3. Fill out our simple order form Step 1. Measuring your window: Let's start by determining if you want to do an Inside Mount, Outside Mount or Outside Mount on a French Door. More specifically, do you want the shutter to mount recessed within your window opening, known as an "Inside Mount", OR outside the window opening on the trim (if any) or directly on the wall, known as an "Outside Mount". We usually recommend an Outside Mount, because windows are generally not perfectly square and Outside Mount shutters are more forgiving. Also keep in mind that if you have less than 1½" of depth it must be an Outside Mount because the louvers would not rotate open if the depth is too shallow. French Doors are always done as an Outside Mount. Be sure to always measure the exact width and height of your window opening down to the nearest eighth of an inch. For an Inside Mount you will need to measure the width and height in three places and make sure you use the SMALLEST measured width and height for each. For an Outside Mount you will need approximately 2" of flat space all the way around the window for the frame to attach to the wall or trim. To determine the size needed, measure the exact overall width and height of the framed size needed. This size will be the overall size from outside edge of frame to outside edge of frame. Determine if your window sill protrudes (for Outside Mounts only): Now check to see if you have a window sill that protrudes out into the room. This will determine how your shutter's frame is designed. If you do not have a window sill that protrudes into the room then you can do a simple 4 sided L-Frame or Z-Frame (see frame styles below). If your window sill does protrude into the room then you will need to order a 3-Sided Frame with sill plate. This is still a 4-Sided frame but the bottom portion is made to rest on the sill where the other three sides wrap around the outside of the window opening. What is your Window Depth? (for Inside Mounts only): Measure from the front edge of your drywall (or trim) surrounding your window opening back to the first obstruction. This could be a handcrank, security device, ledge, or the window itself. Note whether this distance is 1½" or more. If so, you can select an Inside Mount. If not, that means the depth is not sufficient enough for the louvers to be able to rotate open without obstruction. Does your window tilt into the room? (for Inside Mounts only): This info is needed for Inside Mounts only. If you have the type of window that tilts in for cleaning and you ordered an Inside Mount the frame of the shutter would obstruct the window from tilting in making it impossible to clean or remove second or third story windows. We recommend using an Outside Mount for these applications. Step 2. Choose a Color for your Shutters: We offer our shutters in 3 popular colors. You can view the color swatches down lower on this page. Normally it's best to match your trim or sill color. Choose Louver (slat) Size: Choose from 2 1/2" or 3 1/2" Louvers • 2 1/2" Louvers are more traditional, and better-suited for Colonial and Victorian styled homes. • 3 1/2" Louvers are more contemporary, but are perfectly fine for Traditional style homes. Generally, the larger the window the more likely the 3 1/2" Louvers scale better. But it is usually best NOT to mix sizes within your home. Click to View Hinge Colors Decide if you want the standard full window height shutters or Cafe Style (half height shutters): Most windows use the standard full height measurment covering the whole window but sometimes customers would like to just cover the lower portion of the window. These are most often used in Kitchens and breakfast nooks. For this type of application you can also choose from a full height frame and framing around the shutter only. If you decide to use the frame that just fits the Cafe Shutter keep in mind that the frame accross the middle of window will still show even when panels are swung back to sides. Cafe Shutters are best suited for an Inside Mount. When measuring for a Cafe Shutter measure the exact width and measure the height from the bottom sill up to the overall desired height needed. Meaning to the top of shutter frame. Determine if you need/want a Divider Rail: Divider rails add strength to your shutters, and allow you to operate the top louvers independently from the bottom louvers. Note: Center line location of divider rails may vary up or down by a maximum of 1" (for 2 1/2" louver) and by 1 1/2" (on 3 1/2" louvers). If Shutter is going to have a Divider Rail: If your shutter is going to have a divider rail you will need to let us know if there are other windows in that room that will also have divider rails so we can be sure to have them placed at same height up from sill. If not, the rail height differences may be something that bothers you when viewed from inside or outside the home.

Oversize Products Shipping Fee:
If your package is 96 inches or over in width or length it will be shipped by common carrier (semi truck) from the nearest manufacturing facility to you. There will be a .00 oversize shipping charge for any order with products that are 96 inches or more in width or length. This charge is per manufacturer. Meaning if you order two oversized products and they are from two different manufacturers (two different brands) then there will be TWO charges for a total of 0 shipping. But, if you have more than one product over 96 inches at it is from same manufacturer you will only pay one oversize fee. The fee is per order, not per blind. Excluding all Plantation Shutters, which incurs a 0.00 flat shipping fee per manufacturer.
